THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL
In 1905, a valiant and reckless hero was created by the Hungarian born writer Baroness Orczy. In an intriguing mix of history and drama reminiscent of the well known Dickens classic A Tale of Two Cities, the story leads us through the terrifying events of the French Revolution. At the height of this bloody reign of terror an unlikely and brave band of Englishmen risk life and limb to rescue those unfortunates destined for the guillotine. The enigmatic hero of the band is known only by his 'calling card' in the shape of a small red flower called a Scarlet Pimpernel.
